Custom built wine racks are great because you are not bound to standard sizes and can tailor it to your space. On the down side, they are very expensive. For a cheaper option, consider wine cellar cabinets that run typically in the low thousands. Considering that the value of some of your wine collection will grow exponentially, it may be well worth the price. You may even want to upgrade later.
